Adolescents or pre-teens often experience bleeding gums when brushing their teeth, red and swollen gums, medically known as adolescent gingivitis. Adolescent gingivitis is a chronic inflammation of the gums. It occurs in adolescents or prepubertal adolescents. Both males and females can develop the disease, and females often outnumber males.
The occurrence of adolescent gingivitis is due to the endocrine changes in the body during adolescence, a small amount of calculus can cause obvious inflammation of the gums; coupled with the eruption and replacement of teeth in adolescence, and poor oral hygiene, adolescent gingivitis is prone to occur.
The treatment of adolescent gingivitis should be based on local treatment, which is what we often call scaling, commonly known as "scaling". At the same time, oral hygiene guidance is given to teach them the correct brushing method, establish good oral hygiene habits, and regularly review to prevent recurrence.
